# Access and sharing

## Eligible plans

**Advanced plans and higher** can use the Ahrefs connector for Data Studio. If an Ahrefs account is in another plan, it would need to upgrade to one of these plans before using the connector.

## Granting permissions

Users perform [connector authorization](https://docs.cloud.google.com/data-studio/community-connector-authorization) to authorize the Ahrefs Data Studio connectors to access Ahrefs data using their credentials.

The permissions granted to the connectors will **match those of the authorizing user**, so connectors will have *read-level* access to the same Ahrefs projects and tools data as the authorizing user.

The authorization does not include *write-level* access, so the Data Studio connectors won't be able to overwrite or modify data, such as the Ahrefs user's profile.

### Working with multiple workspaces

Users who are a member of more than one workspace should be aware that authorization to a connector is *only for the workspace that was selected in their [Ahrefs dashboard](https://app.ahrefs.com/dashboard) at the time of authorization*.

When a connector is authorized for one workspace, it cannot access data from other workspaces. Thus, users should ensure that their desired workspace is selected in the Ahrefs dashboard, before performing the authorization in Data Studio.

> **WARNING**
> To change the authorized workspace on Data Studio, the user must select the new workspace in the Ahrefs dashboard, and then [reauthorize the Ahrefs connector](./reauthorize-the-connector.md).

## Sharing

Once access to Ahrefs data has been authorized to an Ahrefs connector, that access can be shared according to the sharing permission settings in Data Studio, at the *data source* and *report* level.

> The *authorizing user* is responsible for configuring these settings to prevent unwanted access to their Ahrefs data.

### Sharing data sources

Users with access to the data source can create new reports that use its data.

Note that a [data source's *credentials*](https://docs.cloud.google.com/data-studio/data-credentials-article) can be configured to be either "owner's credentials" or "viewer's credentials". This determines the user whose plan limits will be consumed.

### Sharing reports

Reports can be [shared with viewers and editors](https://docs.cloud.google.com/data-studio/invite-others-to-your-reports).

Users with *editor* access to a report with an added Ahrefs connector data source can create charts from its data. This is true even if the user has no access to the data source.

Users with *view* access to such a report can access the subset of data that the report editor has chosen to expose.

Report editors can choose to let report viewers access data from all Ahrefs projects accessible with the data source credentials, by [exposing a control](https://docs.cloud.google.com/data-studio/about-controls) to select the "Project" parameter value. For this to work, the underlying data source must have enabled the option ["Allow \<parameter name> to be modified in reports"](https://docs.cloud.google.com/data-studio/parameters)  for the configuration parameter "Project".
